Victory Headwaters Pale Ale- 5.10% ABV
Downingtown, PA
Big C’s Liquor – 4.99
What do you know about Pale Ales? Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is a staple of the style in the American beer market and the first Pale Ale I ever tasted, probably yours too. Originally brewed by the Brits as an evolution of the bitter style, Pale Ales have come a long way since then and seen many new interpretations of varying hoppiness. If you have not heard of Victory(for your taste) Brewing it is worth checking out, they brew a variety of excellent beers including Golden Monkey, Hopdevil, and Prima Pils. On the bottle is a short paragraph about the water used by the folks at Victory. Water is a key component in beer. To make truly great brew you need the purest and most natural water possible, the chemical balance within affects the nature of the final product. One of the greatest challenges for a homebrewer is to seek a balance of appropriate ph and water hardness. This brew pours a vibrant golden orange in colour with a light bubbly white head. The aroma is rich with earthy fresh hops, and citrus; very inviting. The taste develops over the palate in turn showcasing a light maltiness with a great hop aftertaste, the citrus is again present and is both herbal and floral. While light, the body is slightly creamy which carries the flavour excellently. This is a delicious Pale Ale. Another victory for Victory. Most importantly notice the price. Five bucks for a six pack! You would be crazy not to scoop some of this up. Big C’s is located next to the original tijuana flats at the intersection of university and goldenrod. Drink good beer. 7/10
Cheers, Matt
