Just Go With It

Just Go with It has hit theaters and is a comedy that is better than one might expect, given its formulaic plot and pigeonholed roles. Adam Sandler stars as Danny, a man that uses a wedding ring to have multiple one night stands and make a clean get away in the morning. He meets the girl of his dreams and his scheme becomes a major hindrance in his quest to woo Miss Perfect. To get things back on track he gets his assistant Katherine (Jennifer Aniston) to pretend to be his soon-to-be-ex-wife, which just makes things worse. Will Danny be able to land his woman (played by Brooklyn Decker) without all of the lies blowing up in his face?

The film isn’t very different from any other Adam Sandler film that we have seen before, so you can expect his mocking vocal parodying, the trademark “shut up!” and other classic Sandler moments. Also, the movie is quite predictable in the way we knew what would happen at the end of The Proposal, No Strings Attached or I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry.  Even with that said the film is actually holds its own among other copycatting rom-coms. Jennifer Aniston gives us a treat with her perky attitude and sweet approach to humor. She and Sandler seem to work well off of one another, which makes the film entertaining. There are funnier moments in the film that (thankfully) aren’t in the commercials or trailers, so there are definitely scenes to look forward to.
In the end, Just Go with It isn’t really anything new or original. It is a pleasant watch for a few laughs but I don’t believe it is really worth a $10 ticket. Wait for Netflix.
