That place is a bit fishy! by: gabriella allen
I would hope so; it’s Winter Park Fish Co., Winter Park’s newest fish restaurant that doubles as a fresh fish market. It’s located on S. Orange Avenue near the intersection of Fairbanks and Pennsylvania. Their tagline is “Fine Fish, No Stuffy Waiters.” You order at the front counter, get a number, and then display your number at the table of your choice. It’s pretty casual, yet the dinning is quite fine.
The first visit I ordered Cioppino Seafood Stew. It’s jumbo shrimp, mussels, and fresh fish, in a rich tomato broth. I had the option of adding pasta. I’m Italian; you better believe I added pasta. The second visit I had the Grouper Cheeks served with homemade green beans and parmesan couscous. The fish was so fresh tasting and the size of the grouper cheeks was enormous. The couscous was cooked and flavored to perfection. This visit I ordered the Lobster Roll, a $20 lobster sandwich. Don’t get me wrong, the lobster itself was good, but I guess I’m not a fan of cold lobster chunks on a roll. The lobster bisque on the other hand, was awesome! It was so rich and flavorful.
Although the menu is frequently updated with new recipes and market prices, the entrées on average are from $9-22.
