My latest food endeavor took me to the Uptown District of Orlando on Orange Avenue where a Florida inspired restaurant thrives. Citrus doesn’t just get its name from its flavors, but from the heritage of Central Florida. The dishes are “new American cuisine with Latin influences. “ The décor is stylish, modern, and comfortable.
The first dish I ordered was the Idaho Brook Trout that had tangerine macadamia nut crust, served with wild mushroom orzo and the chef’s vegetables. The fish was tasty and fresh. The tangerine flavor in the crust was not evident but tasty no less. The mushroom orzo was earthy and delicious and the veggies were not over cooked! Don’t you hate it when the vegetables are mushy? The second dish I had was one of the featured items, lamb shank with a mushroom port wine au jus served with blue cheese whipped potato’s and asparagus. The meat was lean and tender and the mushroom au jus captured such great flavor. I also tried their sheep’s milk baked mac and cheese, yummy! Next time I am determined to order their Pomegranate glazed salmon, it just sounds interesting.
Overall the restaurant has a good atmosphere. That is, if you don’t have group of twenty people flashing their cameras for their friend’s 25th birthday party. The dishes have an interesting flare if you are seeking something new to try. It’s pretty much what I expected, nothing completely over the top or super extraordinary.
The entrée prices range from $16- 27.
