So has anyone spotted the ghosts of restaurants past on East Colonial by Fashion Square Mall? I bet you have. What the heck happened in the past 5 years? I know, I know…… the economy, but seriously, don’t people eat over there? Rest assured, if your stomach gets grumbly driving through the center of Orlando, you now have California Burrito Express. I’m not talking the Chipotle/Pancheros/Moe’s/Qdoba bombs. I’m talking Cali-Mex mi amigos. It’s legit and that ain’t no joke. Scott Joseph can go suck down a bottle of pretentious Tabasco sauce because his opinion doesn’t count here. It may not look like much, but it’s a 24 hour haven for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and that 4th meal.
Help yourself to a bowl, or two, or three of the GIANT chip bowl. Grab some sauce from the Salsa bar. The verde sauce is killer. The burritos have so much tender and flavorful meat. The tacos are stuffed with all kinds of cheese and the shells are like none I’ve ever had; Some sort of fried flour tortilla? – but not greasy. Plus they have all the signature mexican additions like flan and horchata. Rumor has it, the fish tacos are amazing. Other than burritos and tacos, they also carry quesadillas, enchiladas, fajitas, chimichangas, nachos and tortas. Meat choices are steak, chicken, carne asada, al pastor, chorizo, shrimp and lengua. If you’re looking for a great late night restaurant, or just some cheap yet delicious Cali-Mex, try this joint!
You can expect to pay well under $10 dollars for your meal. California Burrito Express is located @ 3922 E. Colonial Drive, 32803. (A.K.A. The old Fazoli’s)
