Big Wheel Provisions Food Truck
Dropps: 8.5/10
Recently it seems as if more people stepping into the food business have decided to forgo the storefront route and instead driving around on wheels. With this said there have been more and more food trucks popping up across the nation and Orlando. One of the most popular trucks in Greater Orlando area, actually voted #1 this year in Orlando Weekly’s Best of Orlando, is the Big Wheel Provisionsfood truck. The truck has three spots that you can usually find it during the week; the Audubon Park Community Market in front of Stardust Coffee and Video on Mondays, The Lake Lily food truck pod Tuesday nights and Maitland Farmer’s Market at Lake Lily on Sunday mornings.
Big Wheel Provisions is described by its website as “a catering and charcuterie company located in Orlando, Florida, owned by Chef Tony Adams and a group of people dedicated to creating amazing food. We are all about using the best techniques to make the absolute tastiest food we can. Our food is made in small amounts by hand because, frankly, we think it just tastes better that way. From custom event catering to handmade condiments, pickles, slow simmered stocks, and smoked products, we want to change the way people in our community think about food- demonstrating that local ingredients raised the right way really shine when handled properly.” Then this year the company expanded to their now well know food truck.
Big Wheel has a menu of rotating items and things that are consistent but change according to what the chef has in mind. The items that appear on the menu on a regular basis fries, chicken skewers, Crispy 4 Cheese Grit Cakes, a hot dog and pork belly. Now some of these things may seem boring but when you take a look at the menu they are tweaked in fun ways. Some variations of these simple items are Avocado Ranch Fries, the All Beef “Chicago Style Splitter” Dog, Greek Style grilled chicken skewer, and Buffalo Style Pork Belly Sandwich.
One other thing that has probably been a big draw for many to this truck, besides the friendly staff and yummy food, is that most of the food is from local farms. With the issues that have occurred with recalls in the supermarkets and the “slow food” movement it can be a relief to many people to know where their food comes from.
No matter if you enjoy local flavor or just enjoy food this is a great truck to visit on a regular basis.
