First Aid Kit: “Emmylou” video

You may remember First Aid Kit’s members, Johanna and Klara Söderberg, as “those two Swedish sisters that did the one Fleet Foxes cover on YouTube.” It’s true, their name spread rapidly on the internet when they posted a video of them covering “Tiger Mountain Peasant Song” in their woodland backyard. They also happened to be a full-fledged folk-duo called First Aid Kit on Wichita Recordings record label, which also houses the likes of Conor Oberst, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Bloc Party.
First Aid Kit released an album in 2010 called The Big Black and Blue, which received critical attention and overall Metacritic score of 70/100. It was filled with Fall season music and plenty of folk and indie to spare. On Jan. 24, 2012, they’ll be releasing their new album, The Lion’s Roar, which will be produced by Mike Mogis of Bright Eyes and Monsters of Folk.
They released the video for The Lion Roar’s gleaming single “Emmylou,” which you can view below. It features the sisters meandering around the Midwest, singing references to Emmylou Harris, Gram Parsons, Johnny Cash and June Carter. Check out the video; it’s rather pretty.
