What started off as a weekly night club in Manchester, U.K. eventually turned into the “Murkage Cartel,” a 22-person organization of DJ’s, musicians, photographers, filmmakers, graphic designers and more. It also includes the Murkage band (stylized as MURKAGE).
Led by David “Murkage Dave” Lewis, the group is comprised of four DJ’s and rappers who run the Murkage night club. On their website, they describe themselves as “lovers, fighters, dreamers, vagabonds . . . trigger squeezers . . . riot starters, shiny black drunken bastards,” and more.
The organization is a culturally diverse group of males, females from varying races. In an interview with CityLife, they said, “The Murkage Club is a place where there are no rules. Do what you want, wear what you want, be who you want.”
They sort of sound like the U.K. version of Odd Future. But who came first? The chicken or the egg? We’re not too sure yet.
Watch MURKAGE’s music video for “Torches” below, and download it for free here.
