Doomstarks: Victory Lap

A rumor that began 5 years ago is finally starting to take it’s much talked about form with Doomstarks. Doomstarks is the collaboration between rappers MF Doom & Ghostface Killah. The latest music to hit the web is a track called “Victory Lap” with an original version, as well as a special remix by Madlib which gives us another much anticipated release, of Madvillain the brilliant pairing of Doom and Madlib. What’s neat about this track is that neither Doom nor Ghostface were in the studio together to record this song, for it was completely done over Protools technology thousands of miles apart from each other. The original track is a hard hitting piano heavy sample with the rappers enhancing the song with their gritty voices and lyrics. The Madvillain remix is a bit more of an all instrumental progression, tapping into a more jazz infused sound. Both versions are great, but you decide which one sounds better. Doomstarks is still an unknown full project, but is rumored to possibly turn into an album or Ep. “Victory Lap” is now available on iTunes and a picture disc can be bought on various online suppliers. A special cassette version of the track and remix can be found in an upcoming strange MF Doom orientated mystery box over at Stonesthrow with an unknown release.
