According to Sigur Ros’s official website, Jonsi will be scoring the music for an upcoming Cameron Crowe film, We Bought a Zoo, starring Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson. IMDB only says this about the movie’s plot, “Set in Southern California, a father moves his young family to the countryside to renovate and re-open a struggling zoo.” In 2001, Sigur Ros also provided songs to Crowe’s Vanilla Sky. Sigur Ros’s music has already been described as film-like, so it will be interesting to see what Jonsi will do with composing music specifically for the purpose of a movie.
And in other Sigur Ros-related news, the band posted a video (see below) on the front page of their website, titled “Inni.” The video comes complete with ambient noises, soft pianos, guitars played with bow strings and beards, all staples of Sigur Ros. But after giving the video a look, you may be wondering, what the hell is it? Apparently the rest of the online community is a little befuddled by this, too, because no one seems to know what it’s supposed to be for. Is it a preview for a new album? Is it a promo for a new tour? New music video? We can only speculate, but time will tell.
