The dropp was invited to the Hopscotch Festival in Raleigh NC this year and so far its been a huge success. The weather is perfect and the streets are alive with the sound of music. Comparable to SXSW in the fact that Hopscotch is a bar hopping festival- jumping from venue to venue to try and catch as many bands as possible in 2 sq. miles. There are day parties in the am to late afternoon and lines spanning street blocks composed of music lovers hoping to get a chance to catch a glimpse of a band they want to see at a bar thats already brimming over capacity. On day one of Hopscotch we were able to catch a few great shows: Dinosaur Feathers, Lower Dens, Dustin Wong, The Love Language, Cold Cave, and Ford and Lopatin. Unfortunately the major schedules conflicts existed with the closing bands last night- Black Lips, Cold Cave, F & L, and J Masics of Dinosaur Jr. all playing at the same time. We have some photos and video from the fest so far we are going to post below with much more to come. Tonight’s lineup includes: The Dodos, Guided By Voices, Braids, Juliana Barwick, Twin Shadow, Diamond Rings, Wooden Wand, Annuals, John Vanderslice, Mount Eerie, Liturgy, Japandroids and more. Wish we could catch them all.
We will follow up with another post tomorrow, but first check out our video of Dustin Wong playing live at The Hive and then check all the photos below.
