The Hype Machine is an MP3 blog, which aggregates posted songs from nearly 1,500 music blogs. In the past few years, the site has implemented an end-of-the-year list called the Zeitgeist. Basically, they process more than 400 audio blogs’ Top 10 lists, weigh each album based on its ranking, and then come up with their “master” list of 50 albums. It’s like the Metacritic of the music world.
On Tuesday Jan. 3, 2012, The Hype Machine released their “Music Blog Zeitgeist 2011.” Here at The Dropp, we took a look at their cumulative list to see how our “Best Albums of 2011” compared. Below is the full list from Hype Machine’s website with our albums in bold:

So 19 out of our top 25 made the list. Not bad. But apparently we missed out on Foo Fighters and Mastodon (???) and most people didn’t agree with us on M83 for the No. 1 spot . . . their loss, right?
Here are the rest of the albums that made our final list, which apparently separates us from 400+ lists across the blogosphere (Go against the grain!):
Toro Y Moi Underneath the Pine
