Bon Iver wins Best New Artist and Best Alternative Music Album at Grammys 2012

About a year ago there was the “Who is Arcade Fire?” Tumblr fiasco when they won album of the year for The Suburbs, and now we might be awaiting the Bon Iver version in the same fashion.

Last night, at the 54th Grammy Awards, Bon Iver took a couple of prized awards: Best New Artist and Best Alternative Music Album.

The band won Best New Artist up against Skrillex, J. Cole, the Band Perry, and Nicki Minaj. The self-titld Bon Iver album won Best Alternative Music Album instead of Radiohead, Death Cab For Cutie, My Morning Jacket, and Foster the People.

“Holocene”, which was up for Record of the Year and Song of the Year, lost to Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” in both cases.

Also, one Justin Vernon’s past collaborators, Kanye West, won Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Performance for “All of the Lights” off of 2010′s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, which won Best Rap Album.
