Local Natives: “Breakers”

The Los Angeles-based quartet, Local Natives, are set and ready to release their sophomore album, Hummingbird via Frenchkiss and Infectious by January 29, 2013 (in the U.S., that is).

It will be a follow-up to their positively-reviewed 2010 debut, Gorilla Manor, and it follows the departure of their bassist Andy Hamm from last year. Local Natives dropped a single from Hummingbird called “Breakers,” which you can listen to up there at the top of this article. Mixing a warm blend of folk, rock, and psychedelic, tinged with an indie flair, the new material sounds dreamier, dasher and all around more sure of itself as a swaying ballad of power in youth.

The upcoming album was hashed out in a studio that the band built specifically for this purpose and then was recorded in both Brooklyn and Montreal. It was also produced by The National’s Aaron Dessner.
